One of the primary reasons suffering is often misunderstood in our culture and within the Church is due to our lack of deep understanding of our God. The more we learn about our God, the more consistently we trust Him rather than our circumstances. We must not define God and suffering based on our circumstances.
Does God really care about my sufferings?
God’s will is His perfect and sovereign ordering of all things, both to God’s will is His perfect and sovereign ordering of all things, both to Himself and to all His Creation. This ordering of all things includes His decree, actions, historical events, and people’s thoughts and actions, all for His glory.
The sovereignty of God is important in understanding suffering because it helps us see that suffering is not random; instead, it passes through the hands of our good and gracious God. His attributes are consistent with His nature. God never ceases to be loving amid evil. He is working all things, good and bad, for those who love Him and are called according to His purpose.
