What I Believe
What I Believe
God is a Trinity, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. One God, distinct in three persons, exists eternally. All members of the Godhead are one in nature, essence, and attributes. All members are equally worthy of worship, trust, and obedience. God is the creator and sustainer of all creation and is actively working all things according to the counsel of his will, to the praise of his glory. Each member of the Godhead has a distinct function in accomplishing this purpose. Genesis 1:1, 26. Ephesians 1:3-14, Hebrews 1:8, John 16:12-15
The Bible is God’s inspired, infallible, inerrant, authoritative Word. Written by the Holy Spirit, through the hand of human authors. All Scripture is profitable for all of life for the believer and should be the authority and foundation of our worldview and practice. The canon of scripture is closed, complete, without any need for additional prophecy or revelation. 2 Timothy 3:16&17, Proverb 30:5&6, Revelation 22:18, Hebrews 4:12
Man was created in the image of God, made to display his character, rule, and purposes in the world. By man’s own choice, man rebelled against God’s perfect will and purpose and became a sinner. Man’s nature apart from God is depraved and completely unable to choose or please God. Though he is free to choose, his will is now bound by his sinful nature. Sin and depravity are extended, because of Adam’s choice, to the entire human race, making us sinners by nature. Apart from God’s saving work, through Christ, we have become objects of God’s wrath because our sin has profaned his holiness. Genesis 1:26, Romans 1:18-25, 3:23, 8:7, 1 Corinthians 2:14, 1 Timothy 2:14, Ephesian 2:1-3, Romans 9:22&23, Judge 21:25
